Hot to Trot Rotts came about when we (Angela & my husband Kevin Stevenson) began looking into getting a female. At first we were looking for an older female to give a good home to & then maybe try breeding with my male Warlord’s “Methos” Von Mako. Then someone very wise asked me some very important questions.

Ok, are you really looking for?

1. A companion to Methos that you can maybe show

2. A companion for Methos that you can definitely show and possibly breed

3. A companion for Methos that has a good chance of becoming a champion and a "foundation brood bitch" for a kennel?

If it is the latter (#3), you have some serious shopping to do...................they don't grow on trees, and starting with the right one can put you many years and several generations ahead of the game.

The ironic thing is breeding has become the last thing on my mind. In Aug 2002 Maplemor’s “Artemis” V Evrmor came to us from Maplemor in Denver, CO. She was the highest pick working girl in the litter of 9 puppies (5 boys/4 girls). To this day she still requires some sort of activity every single day, she was / is a very active girl. She is not a couch Rott by any means. We are having so much fun together & are learning everything we can. That’s what makes it so hard to take time out for puppies.

Our male “Methos” came to us at the age of 4yrs old. He is my 1st show dog. He obtained his Canadian & UCI Championship. We tried for our CD a few times but it was just not his thing (could not get past the long down). He managed to finish his Can. Championship with a Group 3 placement. He is now retired & looks after the house. He has been a wonderful roll model & companion for Artemis & lets her play all over him. We had Methos “customized” (neutered) at the age of 6yrs after Artemis’ first heat cycle. We decided that since we were not going to breed these 2 dogs there was no point in keeping him intact & the sleepless nights were awful. He’s much happier now that he’s not a dog full of testosterone. Food is more his thing now. He still has his jobs that are strictly his; alert us when the pizza man, letter carriers, paper boys are in our yard, watering every tree in the back yard, bury the odd toy & then dig it up month later ( I still can't find the Buster Cube). Methos has taught me so much about Rottweilers. If it weren’t for Methos I would not have met so many wonderful people. He has helped me down the doggie training pathway.

Lastly, how could I not mention my 1st Rottie. His name was “Sid” he was a wonderful boy. Once again another intact male I got at the age of 4yrs old. He was not registered & was clearly from a back yard breeder but I loved him & thought he was beautiful. I was told about “Sid” from a friend & when I went to go see him, there he was chained to a shed & jumping at the end of his leash with excitement. He was being fed the crummiest dog kibble & the careless owner was letting him off his leash at night to roam the neighborhood for fun & excercise. I clearly had to get this dog out of that environment. “Sid” lived a wonderful life till the age of 9yrs & then suddenly passed away due to twisted intestine. After 'Sid' had died we had no dogs for over a year. Then Methos came into our lives & that's how it all began.

Kevin & I enjoy Camping, Billiards, Motorcycles, Golf, Cooking, Watching Movies, Mountain biking & of course going to dog shows.
